As the Spring thaw took place, the ice melted without any apparent damage to the shoreline.
We at woodridgelakeviews.com have long believed that drawdowns do not prevent shoreline damage. In fact, we believe the opposite. The lake filled by mid-march and the lake was covered with 2+ feet of ice. The ice melted quickly and evenly. There were requests to lower the ice level, but the L & D Committee decided against doing so. We applaud the committee for this decision.
In Winter/Spring 2013, the lake level was lowered. It is our belief that this caused ‘ice shelving’ which resulted in significant shoreline damage.
